Getting to Balinakill

Untitled-1

From Glasgow the journey takes just over 2 hours but take your time – this is a stunning drive to be enjoyed!

The majority of visitors to the peninsula travel by road from Glasgow driving west from the city on the A82 then north past Dumbarton. After Balloch roundabout head north along the west side of Loch Lomond, turn left at Tarbet on to the A83 then drive over the hill to Arrochar and round the top of Loch Long. It’s then a steady climb to the Rest and be Thankful and a straight run through the Glen to the head of Loch Fyne. On the way you will pass the Cobbler, the famous Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, the picturesque village of Inveraray and Inveraray Castle, home of the Duke of Argyll. The scenery en route is truly breathtaking and it’s a journey that everyone should take at least once. At Inveraray you continue on the A83 towards Campbeltown and when you reach Lochgilphead and turn south on to the Kintyre Peninsula the road becomes much quieter when you can continue to enjoy the views of the lochs and beyond. Balinakill Country House is in the village of Clachan 10 miles south of Tarbert. After passing the Clachan sign you will pass Clachan Filling Station on your right and Balinakill is the next turning on your left through the big gateposts. You have arrived!

NB Please be wary of using Sat Nav as they can take you on some tortuous routes!
